Planting Tips

Plant in moist, well-drained soil. Space 4–6 feet apart for screening use. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch 2–3 inches deep, keeping mulch away from the trunk.

Care Tips

Water deeply and regularly the first 2–3 seasons while establishing; once established it is moderately drought tolerant. Little pruning is needed to maintain the naturally upright, columnar form. A light trim in late spring tidies any irregular growth if desired. Fertilize lightly in spring with a balanced slow-release fertilizer. Monitor for bagworms and spider mites in hot, dry conditions. A faster-growing arborvitae for privacy screens and windbreaks.
