Planting and Care Guide

Planting Tips

Plant in average to lean, well-drained soil. Space 18–24 inches apart. Water thoroughly after planting. Lean conditions produce the best, most compact growth.

Care Tips

Water regularly after planting; once established it is quite drought tolerant. Deadhead spent flower spikes to encourage continuous bloom and prevent excessive self-seeding- anise hyssop self-seeds prolifically in favorable conditions. Cut to the ground in late fall or early spring. Divide every 2–3 years in spring. No fertilization needed. The fragrant, anise-scented foliage and tall, lavender-blue flower spikes are irresistible to bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds over a very long season from midsummer through fall.
