Lavender-blue flower spikes rise above aromatic foliage that smells like licorice and mint. This native perennial is a favorite of bees and butterflies and is highly drought tolerant.

Plant anise hyssop in well-drained soil with full sun to partial shade. Space plants 18-24 inches apart. Water regularly, allowing the soil to dry slightly between waterings. Fertilize with a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring. Prune spent flowers to encourage more blooms and cut back in late fall or early spring to maintain shape. Protect from harsh winter conditions if necessary.
