Planting and Care Guide

Planting Tips

Plant bulbs in fall, 2–3 inches deep in average to lean, well-drained soil. Space 4–6 inches apart. Water thoroughly after planting. Good drainage is important- bulbs will rot in wet soil.

Care Tips

Water regularly during spring growth and bloom. Allow the foliage to die back naturally before removing- it fuels the bulb. The nodding, rosy-pink flower heads in midsummer are modest in size but charming and excellent for pollinators. This native species naturalizes readily and can be allowed to self-seed in informal plantings. Divide crowded clumps every 3–4 years in fall. No fertilization needed in lean soil. Largely pest-free and deer resistant. An excellent, low-maintenance native bulb for naturalizing.
