Pairs well with

Montrose White throws a cloud of tiny white flowers from early summer until frost, so light and numerous that the plant looks like it is in soft focus. Calamintha nepeta 'Montrose White' grows 12 to 18 inches tall and wide in full sun to part sun, hardy from Zone 5 through Zone 9.

Bees come to the flowers constantly through the entire bloom, and it is one of the longest-running nectar sources you can plant.

The foliage is small, gray-green, and strongly aromatic, smelling of mint and oregano when brushed, which is what keeps deer and rabbits off it.

Calamint wants full sun and well-drained soil, and it handles drought and poor ground once established. Rich or wet soil shortens its life. It self-sows modestly, and the habit stays neat and mounded without shearing, which makes it useful as an edging or a filler between larger plants.

Planting and Care Guide

Planting Tips

Plant in average to lean, well-drained soil. Space 18–24 inches apart. Water thoroughly after planting. Calamint thrives in lean, dry conditions- avoid rich or overly moist soils.

Care Tips

Water regularly the first season to establish; once established it is highly drought and heat tolerant. Shear or cut back lightly after the first flush of bloom to tidy the plant and encourage a second wave of flowering. Cut to the ground in late fall or early spring. Divide every 3–4 years in spring. Virtually pest-free, deer resistant, and an exceptional pollinator plant- bees are constantly attracted to the tiny white flowers throughout the long bloom season.
