Planting and Care Guide

Planting Tips

Plant in spring or fall, spacing 18–24 inches apart. This native tickseed is one of the toughest coreopsis species available, tolerating poor, dry soils, clay, and neglect far better than hybrid varieties. No soil amendment is needed for planting. Water regularly through the first growing season to establish, then reduce significantly as it becomes very drought tolerant.

Care Tips

Deadhead spent blooms to extend the flowering season, or allow seed heads to form for birds. This native coreopsis is incredibly long-lived compared to many hybrid varieties and seldom needs dividing. No fertilizing is needed. A reliable, bright yellow native wildflower that blooms from summer into fall and provides important food for pollinators and birds.
