Planting Tips

Plant in moist, well-drained, acidic soil (pH 4.5–6.0) enriched with organic matter. Space 4–5 feet apart. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch 2–3 inches deep.

Care Tips

Water consistently after planting; once established it tolerates moderate drought in shade but performs best with steady moisture. Prune out any winter-damaged or oldest stems at the base in early spring to rejuvenate. No heavy shearing- the gracefully arching form is the plant's natural beauty. Fertilize lightly in spring with an acid fertilizer. The arching, lustrous evergreen foliage turns burgundy-red in winter. Largely pest-free. An excellent evergreen for shaded borders and woodland gardens.
