Planting Tips

Plant in moist, well-drained, slightly acidic soil. Space 20–40 feet apart depending on use. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch 3–4 inches deep, keeping mulch away from the trunk.

Care Tips

Water deeply and regularly the first 2–3 seasons. Once established it is moderately drought tolerant. Little pruning is needed for a natural form. To control size or encourage density, pinch or cut back half of each new candle of growth in spring before needles fully expand. Avoid shearing. Fertilize lightly in spring. Eastern white pine is fast-growing and one of the most majestic native conifers in North America- give it ample room to reach its full, graceful potential.
