Planting and Care Guide

Planting Tips

Plant in spring or fall in acidic, well-drained soil, spacing 4–6 feet apart. Bluecrop is one of the most widely grown and reliable highbush blueberry varieties — cold hardy, disease resistant, and consistently productive. Acidic soil pH 4.5–5.5 is essential. Test and amend if needed. Mulch generously with wood chips. Plant two or more varieties for best cross-pollination.

Care Tips

Prune in late winter by removing the oldest canes, dead wood, and weak growth. Fertilize with an acid fertilizer in spring and early summer. Water consistently during fruit development. Bluecrop has been the standard by which other highbush blueberries are measured for decades. Reliable, productive, and flavorful. Fall foliage provides good autumn color. One of the most dependable blueberry varieties for home gardens.
