Planting and Care Guide

Planting Tips

Plant in moist, well-drained, acidic soil (pH 4.0–5.0) with generous organic matter. Space 4–6 feet apart. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch 3–4 inches deep. Never use lime around blueberries.

Care Tips

Water deeply and consistently throughout the growing season- blueberry roots are shallow and need reliable moisture. Plant two or more varieties for best cross-pollination and fruit production. Fertilize in spring with an acid fertilizer formulated for blueberries. Prune out the oldest, least productive canes in late winter. Net plants when berries begin to ripen to protect from birds. Chandler produces exceptionally large, sweet berries- among the largest of any highbush blueberry- over a long midseason harvest. Outstanding fall foliage color as a bonus.
