Jewel of the Desert® Garnet Iceplant

Plant in average to lean, well-drained to dry soil. Space 12–18 inches apart. Water thoroughly after planting. Excellent drainage is critical- iceplant will not tolerate wet or poorly drained soil.

Water after planting then reduce significantly once established- iceplant is highly drought tolerant and actually thrives with dry conditions. No regular pruning is needed. No fertilization generally needed- lean soil produces the best growth and longest-lived plants. Largely pest-free and deer resistant. The succulent, low-growing foliage and vivid magenta-red flowers are especially effective as a groundcover in hot, sunny, dry spots where few other plants perform reliably. Excellent for slopes and rock gardens.
