Plant in average to lean, well-drained soil. Space 15–18 inches apart. Water thoroughly after planting.

Water regularly after planting; once established it is quite drought tolerant. Deadhead spent flowers for continuous bloom. Cut back by one-third in midsummer to encourage compact regrowth. Cut to the ground in late fall or early spring. Divide every 2–3 years in spring. Largely pest-free and deer resistant. Golden Needles produces vivid, bright golden-yellow flowers with fine, needle-like petals- the unusually narrow, thread-like petals give the flowers a distinctive, star-burst texture that is quite different from standard coreopsis.
