Double Coded® Butter Pecan Coneflower

Butter Pecan carries fully double flowers, four inches across, in a soft creamy yellow that shades toward melon at the center. Echinacea 'Butter Pecan' grows 18 to 20 inches tall and 16 to 18 inches wide in full sun to part sun, hardy from Zone 4 through Zone 8.

The doubling packs the flower head with petals so the blooms read as pom-poms rather than daisies, and they sit above a dense rosette of foliage. Bloom runs through summer into fall, and the flowers are lightly fragrant.

The habit is compact and tidy, which suits a container or the front of a border.

Coneflowers take drought, heat, humidity, and poor soil once established, and they want well-drained ground. Winter wet is the usual cause of failure, so avoid low spots that stay saturated. Deer generally leave them alone.
