Planting and Care Guide

Planting Tips

Plant in spring in average, well-drained soil, spacing 18–24 inches apart. Salsa Red produces rich, deep red flowers with a dark central cone — one of the most vividly red-toned compact coneflowers available. It adapts to average garden conditions without special preparation. Water regularly for the first few weeks, then reduce as the plant becomes established.

Care Tips

Deadhead spent blooms to keep new flowers forming through the season, or leave seed heads for birds. Divide every three to four years in spring. No heavy fertilizing is needed. The deep, saturated red color is a bold statement in the late summer garden and pairs beautifully with golds, oranges, and purples. Important nectar source for pollinators. Compact habit ideal for borders and cutting gardens.
