Planting and Care Guide

Planting Tips

Plant in spring in average, well-drained soil, spacing 18–24 inches apart. Summer Solstice produces golden-yellow flowers with a dark central cone on a compact plant. It adapts to average garden conditions. Water regularly for the first few weeks, then reduce as the plant becomes established and drought tolerant. Handles heat and dry conditions well once settled.

Care Tips

Deadhead spent blooms to encourage continuous flowering, or leave seed heads for birds. Divide every three to four years in spring. No heavy fertilizing is needed. The bright golden-yellow flowers are cheerful and classic, working beautifully in nearly any garden combination. The compact Sombrero habit keeps this variety tidy and manageable. An outstanding nectar source for bees and butterflies through the summer months.
