Plant in average to lean, well-drained to dry soil. Space 12–18 inches apart. Water thoroughly after planting. This native grass thrives in lean, dry conditions.

Water regularly the first season; once established it is highly drought tolerant. Cut back to a few inches in early spring before new growth begins. No fertilization needed- lean soil produces the best growth. Largely pest-free. The fine, hair-like stems and delicate, nodding seed heads create an extraordinarily airy, ethereal texture in the landscape. One of the most graceful and fine-textured of all native grasses, excellent for dry meadow plantings and naturalistic landscapes.
