Planting and Care Guide

Planting Tips

Plant in average to lean, moist to dry, well-drained soil. Space 18–24 inches apart. Water thoroughly after planting. This native mint is highly adaptable to a wide range of soil conditions.

Care Tips

Water regularly after planting; once established it is quite drought tolerant and adaptable to lean, dry conditions. Mountain mint spreads by rhizomes- divide every 2–3 years in spring to control spread and maintain vigor. Cut to the ground in late fall or early spring. No fertilization needed. The aromatic foliage and tiny white flowers in midsummer are irresistible to a wide range of pollinators, making this one of the most insect-attractive native plants available. Largely pest-free and deer resistant.
