Pairs well with

Needle-like foliage releases a potent minty aroma, while clusters of white flowers create a cloud-like effect that buzzes with pollinator activity. This tough native stabilizes soil and thrives in dry, sunny spots where few other plants survive.

Planting and Care Guide

Planting Tips

Plant in average to lean, moist to dry, well-drained soil. Space 18–24 inches apart. Water thoroughly after planting.

Care Tips

Water regularly after planting; once established it tolerates moderate drought and a wide range of soils. Slender mountain mint has a more compact, upright habit than other mountain mints and spreads more modestly. Divide every 2–3 years in spring to control spread. Cut to the ground in late fall or early spring. No fertilization needed. The aromatic foliage and tiny white flowers in midsummer are outstanding for native pollinators. Largely pest-free and deer resistant. An excellent, well-behaved native for mixed borders.
