Planting and Care Guide

Planting Tips

Plant in average to lean, well-drained to dry soil. Space 12–18 inches apart. Water thoroughly after planting. This compact, fine-leaved goldenrod thrives in lean conditions.

Care Tips

Water regularly after planting; once established it is highly drought tolerant. Cut to the ground in late fall or early spring. Divide every 3–4 years in spring. No fertilization needed. Grass-leaved goldenrod is a particularly fine-textured, graceful species with delicate, arching stems and small, bright yellow flower clusters in late summer and fall. Less aggressive than many goldenrods. Largely pest-free and deer resistant. An excellent native goldenrod for refined garden borders.
