Royal Candles Speedwell

Plant in spring or fall in average, well-drained soil, spacing 12–18 inches apart. Royal Candles is a compact spike speedwell with dense, deep violet-blue flower spikes that are among the most vivid in the speedwell family. It adapts to average conditions without special preparation. Water regularly for the first few weeks, then reduce as the plant becomes established.

Cut back flower spikes after the first bloom to encourage a second flush of flowers and maintain a compact, tidy habit. Divide every three to four years in spring to maintain vigor. No heavy fertilizing is needed. The deep violet-blue color is outstanding in the summer garden and pairs beautifully with yellow, gold, and pink companion plants. Highly attractive to bees and butterflies. An excellent front-of-border perennial.
