Planting Tips

Plant bulbs in fall, 4–6 inches deep in well-drained, fertile soil. Space 12–18 inches apart. Water thoroughly after planting. Good drainage is essential- bulbs will rot in wet or poorly drained soil.

Care Tips

Water regularly during spring growth and bloom. After flowering, allow the foliage to die back naturally before removing it- the leaves fuel the bulb for next year's bloom. The large, purple globe-shaped flower heads can be left to dry on the plant for striking structural interest through summer. Divide crowded clumps every 3–4 years in fall. Fertilize lightly in early spring as growth begins. Largely pest-free and deer resistant.
