Planting Tips

Plant in moist, well-drained, humus-rich soil. Space 12–15 inches apart. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch generously to retain moisture.

Care Tips

Water consistently after planting; once established it tolerates moderate drought in shade. Wild ginger spreads slowly by rhizomes to form a dense, weed-suppressing groundcover over time. Divide in spring to spread the planting or control spread. Little to no pruning is needed. Remove any old or tattered leaves in early spring. No fertilization is generally needed in organically rich woodland soil. Largely pest-free and deer resistant. A beautiful, low-maintenance native groundcover for shaded areas.
