Planting Tips

Plant in moist to wet, humus-rich, slightly acidic soil. Space 18–24 inches apart. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch 2–3 inches deep to help retain moisture.

Care Tips

Consistent moisture is the single most important care requirement- astilbe declines quickly in dry soil, and the foliage will scorch in dry heat. Water deeply and regularly throughout the growing season without letting the soil dry out. Fertilize in spring and again after flowering with a balanced slow-release fertilizer. Divide every 3–4 years in spring or fall when the center of the clump begins to die out. One of the richest red astilbes available- a dramatic accent in the shade garden.
