Planting and Care Guide

Planting Tips

Plant in moist, well-drained, acidic soil (pH 4.5–6.0) with generous organic matter. Space 5–8 feet apart. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch 2–3 inches deep, keeping mulch away from the crown.

Care Tips

Water deeply and consistently- coastal azalea naturally grows in moist, coastal woodland habitats and prefers reliable moisture. Prune lightly immediately after flowering to preserve next year's flower buds. Fertilize in spring with an acid azalea fertilizer. The fragrant, creamy-white to pale pink flowers in late spring to early summer are among the most sweetly scented of any native azalea. Largely pest-free when sited with moist, acidic, organic soil. An outstanding native azalea for fragrance gardens.
