Blue Moon Sawara Cypress

Plant in spring or fall in moist, well-drained soil with some shelter from harsh, drying winds. This feathery-textured cypress grows into a graceful, broadly pyramidal tree over time, so allow adequate space. Dig the planting hole to the same depth as the root ball and two to three times as wide. Water thoroughly at planting and mulch 3 inches deep to retain moisture. Keep consistently watered through the first two growing seasons.

Minimal pruning is needed — the natural form is attractive and requires little intervention. Remove dead or damaged branches in early spring. Keep soil consistently moist, especially during summer heat and dry spells. The soft, feathery blue-gray foliage provides year-round texture and color. Apply a light balanced fertilizer in spring.
