Blue Shag Dwarf White Pine

Plant in spring or fall in well-drained soil, spacing 3–4 feet apart. This dwarf pine is a slow-growing, low-maintenance specimen plant with exceptionally soft, long blue-green needles. Dig the planting hole to the same depth as the root ball and two to three times as wide. Water thoroughly at planting and mulch lightly to retain moisture. Keep watered through the first growing season.

No regular pruning is needed — the naturally mounding, irregular form is part of its charm. If you wish to control growth, pinch the new candles (the soft new growth tips) by half in spring. Water during dry summer spells. A light application of balanced fertilizer in spring is all the feeding it requires. An excellent specimen for rock gardens, borders, or containers.
