Meet Pugster® Amethyst butterfly bush - the newest member of this unique series that offers full sized flowers on a dwarf plant. This compact butterfly bush reaches just 2'/.6 m tall and wide but has the large, full flowers normally seen on a much larger plant. It blooms non-stop from early summer through frost with amethyst-toned flowers, each with a tiny yellow-orange eye in the center. Thanks to thick, sturdy stems, the Pugster® series offers vastly improved hardiness and winter survival over other types of dwarf butterfly bush.

Planting Tips

Plant in average, well-drained soil. Space 3–4 feet apart. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch lightly.

Care Tips

Water regularly after planting; once established it is quite drought tolerant. Cut back hard to 6–8 inches from the ground in early spring — butterfly bush blooms on new wood and requires hard pruning for best performance. Fertilize lightly in spring. Pugster® butterfly bushes have unusually thick, sturdy stems and large, dense flower cones — significantly more substantial than standard butterfly bush. Amethyst produces rich, deep amethyst-purple flower cones over a very long season. This is a sterile, non-invasive selection. Outstanding for butterflies and hummingbirds. Largely pest-free.
