Planting Tips

Plant in average to lean, well-drained soil. Provide a very sturdy support structure- mature trumpet vine is heavy and extremely vigorous. Space 15–20 feet apart. Water thoroughly after planting.

Care Tips

Water regularly after planting; once established it is highly drought tolerant. Trumpet vine is extremely vigorous and can become invasive- plant where it can be managed and prune hard each spring to control its size and spread. Cut back all growth to within a few buds of the main framework in early spring. Remove any suckers from the base and any seedlings immediately. No fertilization needed- rich conditions promote foliage at the expense of flowers. The vivid orange-red tubular flowers are irresistible to hummingbirds. Largely pest-free.
