Narrow, brilliant green blades form a clump that resembles a fox's tail, topped by bristly seed heads in summer. This native serves as a host plant for several butterfly species and thrives in wet soils.

Carex vulpinoidea, commonly known as fox sedge, is best grown in consistently moist environments. Plant in areas with full sun to partial shade to promote vigorous growth. It adapts well to different soil types but flourishes in nutrient-rich, organic soil. Ensure regular watering, particularly during dry spells, to keep the plant healthy. Trim back dead leaves in early spring to stimulate fresh growth.
