Sapphire Surf® Bluebeard

Plant in average to lean, well-drained soil. Space 24–30 inches apart. Water thoroughly after planting. Lean, well-drained conditions produce the best growth- avoid rich or wet soils.

Water regularly after planting; once established it is quite drought tolerant. Cut the entire plant back hard to 6–8 inches from the ground in early spring before new growth begins- bluebeard blooms on new wood and this annual hard pruning is essential for maintaining a compact, attractive form. Without cutting back, plants become woody and open. Fertilize lightly in spring after cutting back. Deer resistant and largely pest-free. The vivid sapphire-blue flowers in late summer are exceptional for pollinators.
