Planting Tips

Plant in spring or fall in fertile, moist, well-drained soil. Set the crown about 2 inches below the soil surface to help protect against clematis wilt. Space 18–24 inches apart. Unlike climbing clematis, this compact bush form requires no support structure. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch to keep roots cool.

Care Tips

Water consistently and deeply throughout the growing season. Cut back to about 6 inches in late fall or early spring. Feed with a balanced fertilizer in spring. Watch for powdery mildew in dry conditions. This variety is less prone to clematis wilt than climbing types, making it a very manageable and rewarding perennial for the border or containers.
