Compact Fernspray Cypress

Plant in spring or fall in a sheltered spot away from drying winds. This false cypress prefers moist, well-drained soil and dislikes dry, exposed conditions. Dig the planting hole to the depth of the root ball and two to three times as wide. Water thoroughly at planting and keep consistently moist through the first growing season. Mulch generously to retain moisture.

Minimal pruning is needed — this cypress has an attractive natural form that requires little intervention. Light shaping can be done in early spring if desired. Keep soil consistently moist, especially during summer heat. Avoid planting where it will be exposed to salt spray, drying winds, or extreme reflected heat. No heavy fertilizing is required.
