Planting Tips

Plant in moist, well-drained soil. Tolerates clay and periodically wet conditions. Space 2–3 feet apart. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch lightly around the base.

Care Tips

Water regularly; this dwarf dogwood prefers consistent moisture. For the best stem color, cut out one-third of the oldest stems to the ground in late winter or early spring each year, as young growth produces the most vivid color. Alternatively, cut the entire plant back hard every 2–3 years to rejuvenate fully. Fertilize lightly in spring. A compact, well-behaved variety well suited to small gardens and mixed shrub borders where a full-sized dogwood would be too large.
