Scepter'd Isle is one of those roses that earns its place in any serious garden. Named for John of Gaunt's famous speech in Shakespeare's Richard II — "This scepter'd isle… this precious stone set in the silver sea" and it carries that romantic weight beautifully. The blooms are soft, shell-pink cups, each holding 45+ petals and a cluster of golden stamens at the center, with outer petals that fade to the palest blush. They're produced in generous clusters on an upright, well-branched shrub and repeat reliably throughout the season.
