David Austin® Young Lycidas Rose

Plant in spring or fall, spacing 3–4 feet apart in fertile, well-drained soil. Dig a wide planting hole, amend with compost, and water deeply after planting. Apply mulch around the base and select a site with good air circulation. Young Lycidas is a compact, bushy English rose that fits well in mixed borders and smaller garden settings.

Prune in early spring, cutting healthy canes back by about one-third and removing all dead or weak wood. Deadhead spent blooms consistently to encourage the repeat flowering this variety is known for. Fertilize monthly from spring through late summer. Young Lycidas produces richly colored, deep magenta-pink rosette blooms with a strong, deeply fruity fragrance. Good disease resistance and a reliably floriferous nature make it a rewarding English rose.
