White Guardian Larkspur

Plant in spring in fertile, moist, well-drained soil, spacing 18–24 inches apart. White Guardian produces tall, upright spikes of pure white flowers — a classic and elegant color in the delphinium family. It performs best in cool, moist conditions and may need staking in exposed or windy sites. Incorporate compost and water well. Shelter from strong winds where possible.

Deadhead spent spikes promptly to encourage a second bloom. Cut back by one-half after the first major bloom. Fertilize in spring. All parts are toxic if ingested. The pure white flower spikes are extraordinarily elegant in cottage gardens and cutting arrangements and pair beautifully with blues, purples, and soft pinks. Bees and hummingbirds are strongly attracted to the tubular flowers throughout the blooming season.
