Planting Tips

Plant in moist to average, well-drained soil. Space 18–24 inches apart. Water thoroughly after planting.

Care Tips

Water regularly after planting; once established it tolerates moderate drought but looks best with consistent moisture. This is a cool-season grass- cut back to a few inches in early spring before new growth emerges to remove old, winter-worn foliage. Do not cut back in fall, as the foliage and seed heads provide excellent winter interest and wildlife habitat. Divide every 3–4 years in spring when the center begins to die out. The golden-tipped seed heads catch the light beautifully from midsummer through winter.
