Planting Tips

Plant in average, well-drained soil. Space 4–5 feet apart. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch lightly.

Care Tips

Water regularly after planting; once established it is quite drought tolerant and adaptable. Prune out one-third of the oldest canes at the base each spring to encourage vigorous new growth. Fertilize lightly in spring. This native bush honeysuckle provides nectar for hummingbirds and butterflies, and the bright red-orange berries in fall are attractive to birds. Largely pest-free and deer resistant. An excellent, low-maintenance native shrub for wildlife-friendly gardens.
