Artisan Yellow Ombre opens saturated golden yellow and softens as the flowers mature, giving the plant a graded range of tones at any one time. Echinacea 'PAS1303304', sold as Artisan Yellow Ombre, grows 15 to 25 inches tall and 16 to 28 inches wide in full sun to part sun, hardy from Zone 4 through Zone 9.
The flowers are large, three to four inches across, and lightly fragrant. Bloom starts early and runs from summer to frost on a uniform, freely branching plant. It was named an All-America Selections Perennial Winner in 2023.
It flowers the first season after planting and cuts well for arrangements.
Leave the last seedheads standing at the end of the season for goldfinches. Coneflowers take drought, heat, humidity, and poor soil once established, and they want well-drained ground. Winter wet is the usual cause of failure, so avoid low spots that stay saturated. Deer generally leave them alone.
