Pairs well with

Cheyenne Spirit is a seed mix rather than a single color, so a planting can give you red, orange, gold, purple, cream, and rose across different plants, and each one holds its own shade. Echinacea 'Cheyenne Spirit' grows 18 to 30 inches tall and 10 to 20 inches wide in full sun to part sun, hardy from Zone 3 through Zone 8, and blooms the first season after planting.

Bloom starts in early summer and continues into fall. Because the colors come from seed, you cannot pick which one you get, and planting three or more improves your odds of a range.

Leave the last seedheads standing at the end of the season for goldfinches. Coneflowers take drought, heat, humidity, and poor soil once established, and they want well-drained ground. Winter wet is the usual cause of failure, so avoid low spots that stay saturated. Deer generally leave them alone.

Planting and Care Guide

Planting Tips

Plant in spring or fall in average, well-drained soil. Space 18–24 inches apart. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch around the base.

Care Tips

Water consistently the first season; established plants are drought and heat tolerant. Deadhead to encourage continuous bloom, or leave seed heads for birds in fall. Cut to the ground in late fall or early spring. Divide every 3–4 years in spring. Watch for aster yellows- remove and discard any distorted plants.
