Coral Craze opens coral-pink, a warm color that sits between the pinks and the oranges and shifts tone as the flowers mature. Echinacea Eye-Catcher Coral Craze grows 26 to 28 inches tall and wide in full sun to part sun, hardy from Zone 4 through Zone 8.
Bloom starts in early summer and continues into fall on well-branched stems. Deadheading keeps the display going.
At a little over two feet in both directions, it has enough presence for the middle of a border rather than the front row, and the stems are stiff enough to hold the flowers without staking.
Leave the last seedheads standing at the end of the season for goldfinches. Coneflowers take drought, heat, humidity, and poor soil once established, and they want well-drained ground. Winter wet is the usual cause of failure, so avoid low spots that stay saturated. Deer generally leave them alone.
