Sombrero Fiesta Orange carries semi-double flowers mixing orange and coral-pink to true red petals, so each bloom shows more than one color and has more substance than a single daisy. Echinacea Sombrero Fiesta Orange grows 18 to 22 inches tall and 22 to 24 inches wide in full sun to part sun, hardy from Zone 4 through Zone 9.
Bloom starts in early summer and reblooms into fall on stiff, well-branched stems. Deadheading keeps the display going.
The habit is compact and rounded, spreading wider than tall, which suits a container or the front of a border.
Leave the last seedheads standing at the end of the season for goldfinches. Coneflowers take drought, heat, humidity, and poor soil once established, and they want well-drained ground. Winter wet is the usual cause of failure, so avoid low spots that stay saturated. Deer generally leave them alone.
