Planting Tips

Plant in moist to dry, well-drained soil enriched with organic matter. Space 12–18 inches apart. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch 2–3 inches deep.

Care Tips

Water regularly after planting; once established barrenwort handles dry shade remarkably well- one of the toughest groundcovers for difficult spots under trees. Cut the old foliage to the ground in late winter before the delicate spring flowers emerge so they can be enjoyed without the distraction of old leaves. Divide every 4–5 years in early spring to spread the planting or refresh crowded clumps. Largely pest-free and deer resistant.
