Large, fuzzy leaves form a dense, weed-suppressing mat that thrives in dry shade and poor soil conditions. Delicate, daisy-like white flowers float above the foliage in spring, adding a touch of lightness to this tough native groundcover.

Planting and Care Guide

Planting Tips

Plant in average, well-drained soil. Space 12–18 inches apart. Water thoroughly after planting. This native aster spreads to form a low, spreading groundcover.

Care Tips

Water regularly after planting; once established it tolerates moderate drought. Robin's plantain spreads by stolons to form a low, weed-suppressing mat. Divide in spring to control spread or propagate. Cut back after the spring bloom to tidy and encourage fresh growth. No fertilization generally needed. Largely pest-free and deer resistant. The small, lavender-blue daisy flowers in spring and early summer are charming and excellent for native bees. A versatile native groundcover for sunny to partly shaded areas.
