Flavorette Honey Apricot was bred to be eaten. The apricot-orange petals carry a sweet fruity flavor rather than the bitterness most rose petals have, and they are grown specifically for flavoring drinks, desserts, syrups, and preserves. Rosa 'Boznatafra' grows 5 to 8 feet tall and 3 to 4 feet wide in full sun, hardy from Zone 4 through Zone 8.
Bloom is continuous from early summer to frost, and the flowers are fragrant on the plant as well as flavorful off it.
This is a tall shrub, closer to five feet and up, so give it room at the back of a border or grow it as an informal hedge rather than treating it as a bedding rose.
Because the petals are meant for eating, skip the systemic insecticides and fungicides entirely. Disease resistance is high enough that it does not need them. Cut back by about a third in early spring. Shipped on its own roots.
