Forged in Fire False Sunflower

Plant in spring, spacing 24–30 inches apart in average, well-drained soil. False sunflower is easy to establish and adapts well to a range of garden soils. Water regularly for the first few weeks after planting, then reduce as the plant settles in. Avoid overly rich or wet soils, which cause tall, floppy growth. Choose a site where the plant has room to form generous clumps.

Deadhead spent blooms throughout summer to extend the flowering season well into fall. Cut plants back to the ground in late fall or early spring. Divide clumps every three to four years in spring to prevent overcrowding and maintain vigorous blooming. Forged in Fire produces rich, golden-yellow flowers with attractive dark centers over a long season. An excellent, reliable late-summer perennial. No heavy fertilizing is needed.
