Planting Tips

Plant in average to lean, well-drained to dry soil. Space 12–18 inches apart. Water thoroughly after planting. Lean, dry conditions and excellent drainage are key- rich or wet soil shortens the plant's life significantly.

Care Tips

Water regularly the first season; once established it is highly drought tolerant. Deadhead spent flowers consistently to maintain continuous bloom from early summer through fall. Cut back to the ground in late fall or early spring. Divide every 2–3 years in spring to maintain vigor- blanketflower is relatively short-lived and benefits from regular division. No fertilization needed. Largely pest-free. The rich, deep burgundy-red flowers are long-lasting and excellent for cutting.
