Planting Tips

Plant in average to moist, well-drained soil. Space 3–4 feet apart. Water thoroughly after planting. This vigorous native perennial tolerates a wide range of soil conditions including clay.

Care Tips

Water regularly after planting; once established it is quite drought tolerant. The plant spreads by rhizomes to form a large colony over time- divide and thin clumps every 2–3 years in spring to control spread and maintain vigor. Cut to the ground in late fall or early spring. Fertilize lightly in spring if desired. The bright golden-yellow flowers on tall stems in late summer and fall are excellent for pollinators and cutting. Largely pest-free.
