Plant after all frost danger has passed in the warmest, sunniest spot available. In northern climates, grow in large containers with rich, moist, well-draining potting mix. Position in maximum heat and sun for the most prolific bloom. Water thoroughly after planting. In garden beds in warm climates, plant in rich, moist soil. Space 18–24 inches apart.

Water consistently — these tropical hibiscus drop buds when they dry out. Feed monthly with a high-potassium bloom fertilizer throughout the growing season. Before the first frost in cold climates, move containers indoors to a bright location. Cut back by about one-third before bringing inside to manage size. Reduce watering in winter. Resume normal care in spring when active growth begins.
