Planting Tips

Plant in moist, well-drained, slightly acidic soil. Space 3–4 feet apart. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch 2–3 inches deep, keeping mulch away from the base.

Care Tips

Water consistently after planting; moderately drought tolerant once established. Prune lightly in late spring to maintain shape- Japanese holly responds well to shearing and holds a tidy, compact form. Fertilize lightly in early spring with an acid fertilizer. Drops of Gold has attractive golden-yellow variegated foliage that brightens shaded and partly shaded areas. Monitor for scale insects. Largely otherwise pest-free. An ornamental, compact holly with year-round foliage interest.
